Bravo TV’s unscripted family law reality show “Untying the Knot” premiered this past Sunday (November 8th) for its second season. It is the network’s first attempt at something in the legal realm and no, it does not involve Real Housewives.
This quick and dirty look into the divorce and separation process (and most importantly the “who-gets-what part”) is sheparded by the sassy and talented Vikki Zeigler, Esq. Vikki is a family and matrimonial law attorney based in New Jersey who also has a flare for mediation. Each episode chronicals one couple at the tail end of their split. They usually have significant assets (financial and personal) that they just cannot seem to divide. Most often there is an emotional block preventing them from seeing the end goal. Vikki assesses the situation and offers her professional recommendation on how to reach a resolution.
Schimmel Family Law will be following the show through this second season and providing recaps, updates and real-life application with each episode. This week there will be TWO new episodes (the first aired this past Sunday and the second will air this Wednesday, so we will blog about the two together. While no two cases are exactly alike, it can be really helpful to see similar application. Plus, it is always interesting to see how real life family law principles play out on TV.
Hopefully you will check out the show and our blog!
