Meet Melanie Tunaitis, Philadelphia Family Law Attorney
Melanie E. Tunaitis joined Petrelli Previtera Schimmel, LLC in 2017. Vastly experienced in family law, she assists clients with divorce, child support and alimony agreements and exceptions, name changes, high-income support, custody arrangements and emergency hearings, grandparents’ rights, parental termination, adoptions, equitable distribution of international property, and more.
A patient and diligent advocate, Melanie prides herself in her ability to explain complex legal theories in a way that anyone can understand. She believes everyone has the right to understand their legal rights, especially when it comes to their family. She chose to focus her career on family law because of its deeply personal nature.
Melanie received her Applied Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies with High Honors from Delaware County Community College. She went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies and her Juris Doctorate from Widener University. During law school, Melanie made the Dean’s List for several semesters. She completed all her education while working full-time at a law firm.
After beginning her career at a law firm in 2005, Melanie was promoted to paralegal/legal assistant in 2007 and served as the main point of contact for many of the firm’s family law clients. In this role, she assumed the responsibility of preparing pleadings, correspondence and case files for court, all the while developing an immense amount of experience by managing the family law department of the firm. Melanie tried her first custody trial within days of passing the Pennsylvania Bar Examination.
During the next two years, Melanie primarily practiced family law in Delaware County, Chester County and Montgomery County, building relationships with the county benches and bar. Now at Petrelli Previtera Schimmel, LLC, she shares her time between the Philadelphia office and county offices.
Having grown up in a low-income area of Delaware County, Melanie worked relentlessly to achieve her educational and career goals by working and studying simultaneously. She has developed relationships with people of all walks of life, and she is committed to helping each client achieve the best outcome possible.
