Meet Michael B. Prasad, Family Law Attorney
Michael Prasad is dedicated to helping people through their family-related legal issues, understanding that these are often the most critically vulnerable moments in their lives. As an avid problem solver, he is proud to be a skilled legal advocate who hears his clients’ stories and effectuates positive change.
In addition to divorce and family law, Mike assists clients with child support, custody, and alimony as well as estate planning, trusts, and post-divorce tax planning. He has also worked on complex cases involving couples in the LGBTQ community, often advocating for their rights to reproductive technology. His deliberate and thoughtful moves, combined with an ability to collaborate and solve problems, has led Mike to obtain excellent results for his clients.
Mike takes pride in his outstanding writing skills and their benefit to his clients. Strong legal documents offer an edge in court. Great writing also helps ensure longevity, as identifying potential issues and providing clarity can prevent unnecessary litigation down the road.
Before becoming a lawyer, Mike worked for a behavior health hospital with patients going through major crises. From this experience, he learned how to actively listen, empathize, and help individuals move forward. Realizing he wanted to do more to guide people toward better futures, Mike enrolled in law school, where earned his law degree, cum laude, from Western New England University School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Mike is working toward earning an LL.M in taxation from Temple University Beasley School of Law. This additional education will help Mike further guide clients on issues that often arise during divorce. He is gaining the knowledge to better assist with estate planning tasks involving beneficiaries, trusts, and fiduciary power. Mike’s degree will also give him access to the most up-to-date tax laws that apply after divorce. This above-and-beyond legal education will give clients the peace of mind that Mike has fully informed them of their options and can address any problems that arise.
An active member of his community, Mike has volunteered for Philadelphia VIP, an organization that ensures access to justice for low-income Philadelphians. He is part of a three-member team dealing with Title I issues for a large immigrant population. Mike is also involved with PFLAG, the nation’s largest organization uniting families and allies with LGBTQ individuals.
