Billie Jo Sowinski’s Biography:
Billie Jo L. Sowinski has been practicing exclusively family law in Colorado since November of 2018 after receiving her Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Science from the University of South Dakota. Billie Jo has practiced in both high estate and high conflict dissolution matters along with high conflict allocation of parental responsibilities cases. Billie Jo practices in all areas of family law, including, dissolutions of marriage, allocation of parenting time (child custody), modifications, contempt cases, and adoptions.
Billie Jo has always known she wanted to practice family law after reviewing her parents’ dissolution papers following high school, long after their dissolution was completed. Ensuring there is a fair and equitable division and that each parent plays an active role in the child’s life is Billie Jo’s passion. After watching first-hand the stress in the home a dissolution or allocation of parental responsibilities case causes, Billie Jo understands this is one of the most stressful times in her client’s lives. As a result, she strives to provide the utmost care, responsiveness, and guidance in all aspects of her cases from navigating the case to navigating new family life and life after the case has completed. To achieve these goals, Billie Jo ensures her clients are aware of the obstacles ahead, the case law, statutes, and common actions by the Court surrounding the specific issues in each case. She knows it is important to have candid conversations with clients to meet their needs and objectives.
Billie Jo works cooperatively with counsel and litigants where resolution can be reached in a manner that is not harmful to her client. However, if a hearing is necessary, Billie Jo is prepared and ready for all possible outcomes and enjoys time in the courtroom.
While not working, Billie Jo can be found hiking with her three (3) dogs or attending various car shows in the Denver area.
