Philadelphia-based attorney Gregory J. Bednarz has been practicing law for more than 10 years.

Family Law Attorney Greg Bednarz

An associate with Petrelli Previtera, LLC, Greg values the importance of knowing when it’s time to litigate and when it’s time to negotiate in a family law case—and believes that an effective divorce attorney often has to do a little of both.

Gregory began his education in Philadelphia, attending La Salle College High School before receiving a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in Boston along with a Master of Science in Finance from the Suffolk University Sawyer School of Business.

During Law School, Gregory participated in Family Law Clinic, representing indigent women in divorce, custody, support actions, and protection from abuse cases. After an early successful trial helping a client gain unpaid child support, Greg discovered the joy that comes with helping clients navigate difficult divorces.

Although he focuses on divorce, Greg has a diverse legal background and a reputation for tackling difficult cases. Since being admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 2010, he has worked for several firms in Philadelphia working in commercial litigation. In addition, while working as a consultant, he assisted developers and construction companies in maintaining legal and regulatory compliance by facilitating permitting, zoning, and community input for development projects, and collaborated with city government to advance their projects.

After returning to the East Coast and private practice, Greg returned to family law because of the ability to help families in an immediate way.

Through these experiences, Greg discovered that being a successful divorce attorney isn’t just about knowing the law and being tenacious in the courtroom. It’s also about having compassion and understanding for clients.

Often, they’re handling a situation more emotionally, logistically, and financially challenging than any they’ve faced before. “When it comes to divorce and family law, emotional intelligence matters,” he says.

When negotiating divorces, Greg is committed to achieving outcomes that provide the maximum amount of value for the clients investment in their future.

Greg respects the fact that divorce is a life-altering event that can be a challenge for spouses and their families, and he’s committed to fully supporting his clients — both as a lawyer and as a fellow human being.

“Divorce isn’t just about getting out of your current relationship,” he says. “It’s also about becoming the person you want to be after that divorce. I want to help you get through the present and plan for your future.”
